Brother John Laidlaw
Brother John Laidlaw (current Christian Brother - aged 80) pleaded guilty on 18 July 2019 to five charges of indecent assault and two charges of sexual penetration of a child between 1963 and 1984. These were in relation to sexual abuse that occurred while he was at Christian Brothers College, Warrnambool in south-western Victoria. The children were boys he coached for sport and occurred in the change rooms and in his bedroom at his residence on the school grounds.
Laidlaw has been reported to have taught at the following Christian Brothers secondary schools:
Perth
Devonport
Adelaide
Warrnambool
Melbourne
It is known that Brother Laidlaw taught at the following schools:
Christian Brothers College Perth;
Christian Brothers College St Kilda; and
St Joseph’s Christian Brothers College in Warrnambool.
