St Kevin's College, Melbourne

St Kevin's College is an independent Roman Catholic, all-boys primary and secondary school. The college was founded in 1918, and is located in Toorak, Victoria. It has five campuses, three of which are in the suburb of Toorak; the fourth in Richmond, and the fifth being a sport campus located behind Stockland Tooronga. The school owned a campsite 'Silver Creek' in the town of Flowerdale which was completely destroyed by the Black Saturday bushfires. St Kevin's was founded by the Christian Brothers and is a school of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and is directed by Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA).

The College has become linked with Cardinal George Pell’s conviction on child sexual abuse charges. In 2019 Cardinal Pell was found guilty of having sexually assaulted two choirboys in St Patrick’s Cathedral in 1996. His conviction was later overturned on appeal to the High Court of Australia in 2020 due to the evidence available at the time not supporting a guilty verdict. Both of the choirboys were students at St Kevin’s College. However, the school has also been linked with other alleged and convicted perpetrators who at one stage or another taught at the College. This includes, for example, Brother John Laidlaw who was sentenced on 18 July 2019 for another 4 and ½ years for abusing students at another school.
