Brother John David Parker

Brother John David (“Neri”) Parker was born in 1934. He commenced his studies to become a Christian Brother in 1954 at Strathfield, Sydney. In 1972, he was appointed to a position at St. Patrick’s Primary School in Ballarat, Victoria. From 1972 to 1981 (inclusive) he was Principal of the school and was also the Grade 6 teacher. In 1982, he was a teacher at St. Patrick’s and the following year in 1983 he was transferred to Launceston, Tasmania. Prior to St Patrick’s, he taught also at St. Francis of Assisi Primary School in Mill Park, Melbourne.

It is reported by the research organisation into child sexual abuse within the Catholic Church in Australia - “Broken Rites” - that in 1995, Brother Parker appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court charged with sexual assault of a nine-year old boy in Grade 4 who attended Parade Christian Brothers Junior College in Alphington, Melbourne in 1958. Brother Parker contested the charge and the matter did not proceed to the Victoria County Court as the alleged victim was satisfied in having the allegations aired in the Magistrates Court.

Moody Law has in the past represented and is still representing clients who were sexually abused by members of the Christian Brothers at various institutions.
