St Patrick's College Ballarat
St Patrick’s College in Ballarat, Victoria is an Australian school founded by the Christian Brothers in 1893. It is a day and boarding school providing education for boys from Year 7 to Year 12. The school continues the tradition of the Christian Brothers in providing education for boys in Victoria and continuing the tradition of Edmund Ignatius Rice, who founded the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1802.
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has however indicated that of all the claims and substantiated complaints of child sexual abuse against one or more Christian Brothers in the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat, 34 per cent related to St Patrick’s College.
St Patrick’s College was home to some of Australia’s most prolific offenders. This included perpetrators such as former chaplain Gerald Ridsdale and Bryan Coffey who have been sentenced for numerous offences involving child sexual abuse.
Moody Law is interested in pursuing justice for any victim of child sexual abuse at the hands of any perpetrator at the school. We invite former students, teachers and parents to contact us to tell us confidentially what information they may have, and we will explain what options are available to help with these cases.
