St Joseph’s Hunters Hill
St Joseph's College is an independent Roman Catholic single-sex secondary day and boarding school for boys, conducted in the Marist Brothers tradition, located in Hunters Hill, a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Founded by the Marist Brothers in 1881, Joeys currently caters for approximately 1,100 students from Year 7 to Year 12 including over 750 boarders, making it the largest boarding school in Australia and one of the largest in the southern hemisphere.
In the recent past, the school has been involved in various child sex abuse claims. One of the most recent cases has been the conviction in 2015 of Brother John Dennis Maguire for sexually assaulting a 11 year boy six times in 1983 when Brother Maguire was employed as a dorm master by the School.
Moody Law is currently assisting a client who has made allegations of child sexual abuse against a former teacher of the School. We invite former students, teachers and parents to contact us to tell us confidentially what information they may have, and we will explain what options are available to help with these cases.
