Brother Peter John Toomey
Brother Peter John Toomey joined the Christian Brothers in 1967 at the age of 18. Throughout his long service with the Order, he has taught at various schools in Victoria and Western Australia. These include the following;
Trinity Regional College Brunswick;
Cathedral College East Melbourne;
Kearney College in Bindoon, Western Australia.
In 2005, Brother Toomey was charged with assaulting 10 students aged 11 and 12 years at Trinity Regional College in Brunswick between 1972 and 1973. Brother Toomey plead guilty to charges of sexual abuse against 10 boys and was sentenced to four years and three months jail with the possibility of parole after two years and six months. In 2019, Brother Toomey (aged 69) again pleaded guilty to new charges of sexual abuse against two boys in Ballarat and Melbourne. He was sentenced to another six months jail.
