Simon Jacobs
Simon Jacobs was for many years a lay leader of the Church of England Boys Society (CEBS) at CEBS branches in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has shown that in 2011 Simon Jacobs was convicted and pleaded guilty to 11 child sex offence charges involving six boys and was sentenced to an overall term of imprisonment of nine years with a non-parole period of five years and six months. Jacobs was released on parole in September 2016. During the 1980s, Simon Jacobs conduct with young boys was reported by various other members of CEBS to church authorities of the Anglican Church. However, on many occasions these complaints were either ignored, dismissed or disbelieved.
