Father Peter Colley
Father Peter James Colley was born in Melbourne in 1948. He attended Parade Christian Brothers College in Melbourne. He originally had plans to be accepted as a lay brother with the Pallottine Order but never completed the training. Father Colley went on to apply to Bishop Ronald Mulkearns of the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat in the 1970s to sponsor him as a candidate for the priesthood. Subsequently, Father Colley was ordained at St Paul's Seminary for Late Vocations in Sydney in 1979 and then joined the Diocese of Ballarat. He went on to serve within the parishes of Terang, Horsham, Bungaree (near Ballarat) and Warrnambool East.
In 1993, Father Peter Colley pleaded guilty in the Magistrates Court in Moonee Ponds to two charges - one indecent assault of an adult male in a public toilet at Moonee Ponds and one charge of escaping from legal custody.
Moody Law has in the past and is still representing clients who have made allegations of sexual and physical abuse against clergy members of various schools and institutions within the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat.
