Father Patrick Holmes
Father Patrick Holmes was a former Catholic priest belonging to the Camillian Fathers (also known by the following names - Ministers to the Sick, Order of Clerics Regular, and the Order of St Camillus). He was born in 1935 and served all his religious life throughout numerous parishes in Perth under the supervision of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth.
In 2014, Father Holmes was charged by Western Australia Police over the alleged sexual assault of a girl in 1980, who was aged between 10 to 12, when he was a priest at St Aloysius Church in Shenton Park, Perth. He was further charged over a separate incident for the sexual abuse of a girl, aged between six to seven in 1969, when he was working at the Holy Name Church in Carlisle, Perth. Father Holmes was sentenced in the District Court of Western Australia after pleading guilty to six child-sex charges and was sentenced to three years in jail, with eligibility for parole set for 18 months.
In 2018 and 2019, Father Holmes was charged again by Western Australia Police in relation to multiple alleged victims, including boys and girls aged between six and 12 years old at the time the offences occurred. In a court appearance in August 2018, Father Holmes was charged over the alleged sexual abuse of more victims. Three of the charges related to a girl who was aged six in 1970, while in another court appearance in October 2018, Father Holmes was charged of unlawfully and indecently assaulting a a seven-year-old boy in 1967 while he was a priest in Carlisle. In November 2018, Father Holmes pleaded not guilty to all 16 charges. His matter was listed to be heard in 2019 in the District Court in Perth.
