Father Murray Wilson
Father Murray Wilson was born around 1935 and was a member of the Vincentian Fathers and Brothers (formally known as the Congregation of the Mission). He served all his religious career with the Vincentian’s at the following institutions:
St Vincent’s Parish - Ashfield, Sydney (approximately 1961);
St Stanislaus College - Bathurst, NSW (1962 to 1966; 1978 to 1979);
St Charles Seminary - Guilford, Perth (1967);
St Joseph’s Seminary - Eastwood, Sydney (1968); and
St Vincent’s College (now part of Catherine McCauley College) - Bendigo, Vic (approximately 1969 to 1977).
It is reported that Father Murray sexually abused a 13 year student from St Vincent’s College during the Easter break in around 1976 when he took the student on a trip to Sydney. The victim did not report the abuse at the time and it was not until 1993 that the abuse was reported to the Vincentians hierarchy. However, it was not until 2006 that the Vincentians paid the victim compensation out of court and apologised to him for what Father Murray had done to him.
Moody Law has in the past and is still representing clients who have made allegations of sexual and physical abuse against members of the Vincentian Fathers and Brothers at various schools and institutions around Australia.
We invite former victims to tell us confidentially what information they may have, and we will explain what options are available to help with these cases.
