Father Michael Reis
Michael Francis Reis was a former priest and teacher who belonged to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Order (who go by the acronym “MSC” after their religious name). Online records indicate that Father Reis taught at the following schools:
Downlands College - Toowoomba, Queensland; and
Monivae College - Hamilton, Victoria.
In 2008, Father Reis pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court to seven counts of indecent treatment of two girls under the age of 16. The abuse is said to have happened in Brisbane between 1983 to 1985 and in Caboolture from 1992 to 1995. Father Reis was sentenced to 18 month’s jail for each offence, to be served concurrently, with the sentence suspended after six months.
