Father Julian Fox
Father Julian Benedict Fox was born in Tasmania. He attended the Salesian school in Glenorchy, Tasmania (now called Dominic College) and later at a Salesian boarding school in Melbourne. Eventually he would become himself part of the Salesian Order/Clergy.
Over his religious career Fox worked as a teacher or administrator at several Salesian schools. These include:
Savio College in Hobart between 1967-69, followed by theological studies;
Salesian College, "Rupertswood", at Sunbury in Melbourne's between 1976-83;
St Joseph's Salesian College, Fern Tree Gully in Melbourne's between 1983-1986;
"Rupertswood" College again between 1987-1988;
Head of the Salesian Order in Australia which entailed supervising Salesian schools in several States between 1988 to 1993; and
St Joseph's College, Ferntree Gully, again between1994-1998.
Father Fox has been involved in allegations of sexual abuse and it wasn’t until 2013 that Victoria Police charged Father Fox with 10 offences including buggery, indecent assault and common law assault for abusing students at Sunbury’s Rupertswood College between 1976 and 1985. In 2015, Father Fox was sentenced to a maximum four years jail for indecent assault (with parole set at two years and eight months) and fined $10,000 for the common assault charges.
