Father Glenn Humphreys
Father Glenn Michael Humphreys was a former member of the Vincentian Fathers and Brothers (The Congregation of the Mission). He was born on 6 July 1953 and served/taught at the following institutions/parishes across Australia:
St Stanislaus’ College - Bathurst, NSW (form master, dorm master and teacher between the 1970s to 1983);
St Anthony’s Parish - Marsfield, NSW;
St Vincent’s Parish - Ashfield, NSW;
St Kevin’s Parish - Eastwood, NSW;
St Vincent’s Parish - Kwinana, WA (1983);
Ministerial Region of the Good Shepherd - Kirwan, Qld; and
Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish - Townsville, Qld (around 2002).
Father Humphreys was charged in 2014 in the Perth District Court with four counts of indecent assault against a minor while he was an assistant priest at the St Vincent’s Parish. The assault occurred on church property, including the presbytery and in a bathroom at the nearby school. The abuse occurred between 1983 to 1986. Father Humphreys was found guilty by a jury and served 22 months in prison.
In 2018, Father Humphreys (now aged 64) was charged by NSW Police and sentenced on two indictments at the Downing District Court in Sydney, NSW. The first indictment was based on eight counts of indecent assault on a 15- year-old boarder in Year 10 at Stanislaus' College in Bathurst, NSW. The abuse occurred over a five week period in 1982. Father Humphreys pleaded guilty to the first indictment. The second indictment was based on seven counts of indecent assault and one of sexual intercourse without consent and was not related to St Stanislaus College. He was found guilty by a jury on the second indictment.
Father Humphreys was convicted on both indictments and sentenced to an aggregate term of seven years and six months in jail, expiring on December 19, 2025. He was given also a non-parole period of three years and six months, expiring on December 19, 2021.
