Father Damian Barker

Father Damian Barker (d. 1998) was a former member of the Carmelite Fathers who served as a Chaplain and parish priest in Victoria, Western Australia and New South Wales. Online records indicate that he served at the following institutions/parishes:

  • Parish of Port Melbourne/Middle Park - Port Melbourne, Victoria;

  • Christian Brothers College - Fremantle, Western Australia (junior School Chaplain, approx. 1983 to 1985);

  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish - Hilton, Western Australia;

  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel College - Sunbury, Victoria

  • St Killian’s Parish - Bendigo, Victoria (Parish Priest);

  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish - Wentworthville, NSW (Parish Priest).

Allegations of sexual abuse have been made against Father Barker in relation to Our Lady of Mount Carmel College in Sunbury and when he was chaplain at Christian Brothers College in Fremantle, Western Australia. Online reports indicate that Father Barker could have sexually abused up to 60 victims. At CBC Fremantle, it is reported that Father Barker would abuse primary school students within his own lockable confessional room.
