Cletus O’Connor

Cletus O’Connor was a former teacher, deputy principal and school inspector who worked for the NSW Department of Education between the 1950s to 1980s. It is reported that Mr O’Connor taught/served at the following schools (amongst others):

  • Gilgandra;

  • Gunneday;

  • Lithgow; and

  • Corowa.

It is further reported that during his employment with the Education Department, Mr O’Connor groomed and sexually abused indigenous students dating back to the early 1970s. Furthermore, it is reported that the State of NSW has since 2018 compensated 14 different indigenous males in out of court settlements who were allegedly sexually abused by Cletus O’Connor.
