Brother Luke Saker was born in 15 December 1940 and died in 2016. His full name was Brother Luke Leslie G. Saker. He was a Marist Brother who became a Novitiate with the Order in 1973 and took his final vows in 1980. Brother Saker is known to have taught at St Gregory’s College in Campbelltown, NSW and at Benedict College (now Trinity Catholic College) in Auburn, Sydney.
In 2014, Brother Saker was charged by NSW Police with sexual offences allegedly committed against a 16 year old student while he was teaching at Benedict College. The offences where allegedly committed in 1974. Brother Saker’s charges where heard in Burwood Court in 2015 and he was required to enter a plea at a later date, but died in 2016 before he could do so and before his trial could proceed. However, it is noted also that NSW Police believed that the 16 old boy Brother Saker allegedly abused was not the only one.
Moody Law has in the past represented and is still representing clients who have made allegations of sexual abuse against various members of the Marist Brothers at different schools and institutions around Australia.
