Brother Norman Keyes
Brother Norman Charles Keyes was a member of the Marist Brothers who died in 1981 in Drummoyne, Sydney. New South Wales court records indicate that Brother Norman was a teacher at Marist Brothers Penhurst between 1969 to 1976. During his time at the School, he taught and served alongside other well-known offenders such as Brother Kostka Chute and Robert “Dolly” Dunn. Furthermore, court records from 2018 indicate that allegations were made against Brother Norman Keyes (and Robert “Dolly” Dunn) for the sexual, physical and emotional abuse of a student who was in Year 5 at the School in 1976. The School by 1969 had only 9 Brothers and four lay teachers, indicating that due to the number of perpetrators at the School around this time, the abuse was systemic.
Moody Law has represented and is still representing clients who have made allegations of sexual abuse against various members of the Marist Brothers at various institutions around Australia.
