Brother Leon Mackey
Brother Leon (real name Noel Mackey, born 31 July 1922) was a member of the Marist Brothers who left the Order in late 1955. He subsequently changed his name to Noel Desmond Dowling and worked in administration for Mount Isa Mines (MIM), in northern Queensland until 1983. He is alleged to have sexually abused five students at Marist Brothers Hamilton in the early 1950s. Around the time it is also alleged that the Marist Brothers new of Brother Leon’s behaviour and was apparently removed from the school in September 1955.
