Brookway Park
Brookway Park was a reformatory established by the former South Australian Department of Social Welfare in 1965. The reformatory was located in the suburb of Campbelltown in Adelaide, South Australia. The reformatory primarily accommodated boys aged between nine to 15 and by 1970 (after extensions to the institution), the reformatory accommodated 97 boys. After a short period time, numerous issues at Brookway Park eventuated such as overcrowding, limited staff, older boys preying on younger boys, and the limited focus given to the well-being of the boys, leading to its closure in 1978.
Most of the boys who resided at Brookway Park were juvenile offenders who were placed under the care of the State.
Brookway Park was another government-run institution which was scrutinised by the Children in State Care Commission of Inquiry between 2004 to 2008. The Inquiry heard allegations of sexual and physical abuse by 13 witnesses while they resided at Brookway Park throughout the entirety of its operation.
Moody Law has in the past represented and is still representing clients who were physically and sexually abused at institutions managed by the State of South Australia.
