Alan Edward Swingler

Alan Edward Swingler (born September 1941) was originally a Marist Brother but left the Marist order and became a lay teacher of religious studies at St Joseph’s Christian Brothers’ College, Geelong, Victoria, where he stayed for 18 years. In 1996, Alan Swingler, then aged 54, was sentenced in Victoria to a maximum of seven years (a minimum of five years) for the following offences: on one incident of buggery, three incidents of gross indecency and nine of indecent assault of boys. Apparently, complaints were made to the school by various parents about Swingler’s inappropriate behaviour, but the School still kept Swingler on its staff.
